System Expansion & Alpha Milestones

Since my last development update, several core systems inside the Forge42Engine have reached production stability.

Password Reset System
A secure password reset workflow is now live.
Reset links are delivered via email and validated server-side to preserve account integrity.

Equipment System – Phase 2 Complete
The character equipment system has been rebuilt to support true slot-based logic.
Players can now:

  • Equip and unequip items independently
  • Use Armor and Shields simultaneously (properly slotted)
  • Swap gear without repurchasing items
  • Maintain consistent Armor Class recalculation server-side

Additionally:

  • Two-Handed weapon enforcement is active
    • A shield cannot be equipped while wielding a Great Axe or other 2H weapons
    • Equipping a 2H weapon automatically removes an equipped shield

All rule enforcement occurs in the API layer to guarantee integrity across UI clients.

Alpha Tester Perks Expanded
Alpha testers now receive:

  • Custom recognition badges
  • 5 gold per monster defeated (automatically calculated and idempotent)

Gold rewards are processed server-side at battle finalization to prevent duplication and exploitation

What’s Next
Development is now shifting toward progression systems and expanded combat depth.

Near-Term Roadmap

  • Character Leveling System
  • Multi-Character Battles
  • Expanded Range Combat
  • Magic System Framework

Longer-Term Vision (4-6 Months Out)

  • Fully narrated, single-session adventures run by DM42
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-enhanced narrative state
  • Persistent world continuity across sessions

The goal remains unchanged:

Forge42Engine is designed as a deterministic RPG engine augmented by AI-enhanced narrative delivery, not as a conversational chatbot, but as a rule-governed autonomous system. This work directly supports my thesis, A Game-Theoretic Hybrid Architecture for Autonomous Narrative Games: Integrating Deterministic Rule Engines with Personalized Large Language Models, which investigates how fully tuned, character-specific LLMs can operate within strict game-theoretic constraints to enable autonomous narrative generation while preserving systemic fairness, consistency, and mechanical integrity.
